No. 20 CRAFTSMAN Toyota Camry News and Notes:
Bell at Kansas: Christopher Bell will make his fourth NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) start at Kansas Speedway this weekend in the No. 20 CRAFTSMAN Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). In his first NCS start at Kansas, Bell started 22nd and raced his way inside the top 10 during the final stage but sustained damage on a restart. The team was able to make repairs and salvage a 23rd-place finish. In the fall race of 2020, Bell drove his way to a 10th-place finish. Earlier this season at Kansas, Bell was running inside the top-10 late in the race but got sideways and received contact from another car. The team repaired the car on pit road and Bell finished 28th.
No Place Like Kansas: Bell earned his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) victory at Kansas Speedway in 2017. The win came in just his fifth start in the series and makes Kansas a special track for Bell.
Kansas NXS Stats: In addition to earning his first NXS win at Kansas, Bell also owns one pole, one top-five and one top-10 finish at the 1.5-mile speedway.
Honoring Cancer Heroes: Bell will have Darlene Carr riding along with him Sunday at Kansas through the Martin Truex Jr. Foundations “Honor a Cancer Hero” fundraiser with The NASCAR Foundation. Darlene Carr is a registered nurse from Dallas, Pa and is a cancer survivor, cancer fighter, caregiver and medical provider.
Texas Recap: Bell made gains on handling throughout the race at Texas Motor Speedway and continued to work his way forward through multiple late-race cautions. As the checkered flag he was able to surge forward to earn a third-place finish.
JGR at Kansas: JGR has claimed seven NCS victories at Kansas. In 103 combined starts at the 1.5-mile Speedway, the organization has tallied 27 top-five finishes, 43 top-10s and 1,325 laps led. The championship-winning organization has two three pole awards with an average start of 12.6 an average finish of 15.4.
RACE INFO: The Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway begins at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 24, 2021. The race will be broadcast live on NBCSN, SiriusXM 90, and MRN Radio.
