Andretti Autosport Reviews Their Indy Lights Practice Session At Iowa

“It was a good way to end the session. Honestly, I don’t think we really got the max out of our new Cooper Tires. We went a little bit loose and didn’t quite get the setup right, but we were still quick. I think we can look at the data and make some improvements, and hopefully be quickest in qualifying tomorrow morning.”

“It was probably a little bit more of an exciting finish to the day than we were looking for! We were doing a qualifying sim and Nico came out in front of us getting warmed up. It looked like he spun coming out of (Turn) 2, and at that point I was already pretty free – because we were trying to get everything out of the car we can. I slowed up to avoid him and ended up pancaking the wall. The boys will have it fixed up for qualifying tomorrow and we should have a pretty good qualifying. We ended practice P3, so feeling positive overall.”

“So far so good. I really like this track – it’s super bumpy and super-fast, so it’s pretty fun. Since we didn’t get to run too much of the race in Indy, this is kind of like starting over for me in the race pace and in the groove. Toward the beginning of Practice 2 I did pretty good in there. I think we’ll be good for the race, I know we have a good qualifying car. We missed the set up a little bit this afternoon but it seems my teammates did pretty well; we’ll look at the team data and see where we are at tomorrow.”

“I think overall it was a pretty good day for me. I think we have a really strong race car. We worked on the race setup in the first practice and I was very happy following other cars. In the second practice, we were working on the qualifying setup and it was a bit too free. I lost it on the qualifying sim in Turns 1 and 2. It just got out from under me, I don’t really know why. (The car) just came around and I couldn’t catch it, but was able to almost keep it off of the wall and it’s very minimal damage. The guys will be able to fix everything for tomorrow and we’ll get back out there.”
