Saturday was really The Austin Dillon Show at the Auto Club Speedway!

Before the Sprint Cup got onto the track for qualifying for the Auto Club 400, which Austin Dillon showed them all the fast way around the race track, he had another good session with the XFINITY  series cars.

Austin Dillon drove right to the top of the NASCAR XFINITY Series leader board in Friday’s final practice session in his No. 2 Rheem Chevrolet.

Driving his grandfather’s race car in happy hour, Austin let the big dog eat and finished the practice session with a lap time of 40.765 seconds.  That time equates to an average speed of 176.622 mph around the 2 mile racing facility.

Rounding out the top five happy hour speeds were Kyle Busch with a 40.906 and 176.013 mph, Ryan Blaney timing in at 40.941 and 175.863 mph.  Younger brother Ty Dillon with a 40.997 and 175.623 mph was fourth fastest, followed by Kyle Larson at 41.005 and 175.588 mph clocking in fifth fastest for that session.

Tomorrow morning the XFINITY Series will qualify for the 18th Annual TreatMyClot.com 300 Presented by Janssen.

One casualty of the afternoon session was the RCR No.33 Chevy driven by Brandon Jones.  Jones made contact with the wall about halfway through the afternoon’s final practice session at Fontana, causing some cosmetic damage on the right side of his car, but should be easily repaired.
