There have been rumors about a potential merger between Trackhouse Racing and Kaulig Racing, but current reports indicate that the two teams are collaborating rather than merging. This partnership focuses on integrating their resources and expertise, particularly to support Shane van Gisbergen’s (SVG) participation in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and selected NASCAR Cup Series races for the 2024 season.
Trackhouse Racing and Kaulig Racing have formed an alliance to field a full-time Xfinity Series entry for van Gisbergen under Kaulig’s team, while also working together on a part-time Cup Series schedule. SVG, a three-time Supercars champion, will drive the No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro for Kaulig Racing in seven Cup Series races, alongside his full-time commitment in the Xfinity Series
This partnership allows Trackhouse to leverage Kaulig’s infrastructure and experience, benefiting from their shared Chevrolet support and pit crew relationships. The collaboration stems from SVG’s impressive debut in NASCAR’s Cup Series, where he won the Chicago Street Race with Trackhouse Racing’s PROJECT91 program, which aims to introduce international stars to NASCAR.
While there is no indication of a full merger, this alliance highlights a strategic partnership aimed at maximizing the competitive potential and resources of both teams, particularly in enhancing SVG’s transition to NASCAR.

Chris Rice set the record straight on Wednesday during his weekly appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s The Morning Drive.
Kaulig Racing isn’t going anywhere, despite rumors that it would soon be merging with Trackhouse Racing and Rice, the team president, didn’t mince words in declaring it.
“We’re not merging and we’re not doing anything like that,” Rice said. “We are very close to Trackhouse and we will be close to Trackhouse for a while but we’re also very close to RCR, if you want to look at it that way.”
The rumors are based upon Trackhouse having lent Kaulig the driving services of Shane van Gisbergen for a full-time Xfinity Series season and a part-time Cup Series season alongside AJ Allmendinger and Derek Kraus in the No. 16 car.
