BJ McLeod Motorsports & Alfredo Part Ways

Anthony Alfredo

During a media availability on Tuesday, BJ McLeod confirmed that Anthony Alfredo won’t return to drive the No. 78 Chevrolet for BJ McLeod Motorsports for the 2024 Xfinity Series season.

“I want to thank Anthony for everything that he did with us this year,” McLeod said. “He brought a great group of guys over to our shop over the offseason last year. He’s an excellent driver, has a ton of speed, really good kid with a great family. They have some opportunities that they are going to pursue also, so BJ McLeod Motorsports is actively looking for our driver for 2024.”

McLeod wants to field a competitive top-15 car for the 2024 season. For spurts during the 2023 season, Alfredo had that type of speed, scoring a pair of eighth-place finishes over the final third of the season.

If the team doesn’t find the right fit for 2024, he’s open to running a partial schedule with the team next season.

“It’s a one-car team; I have no interest in running two for the foreseeable future,” McLeod stated. “If we could ever get a one-car team to where it runs well for two years in a row and I feel comfortable with it, I might go back to a two-car team. Right now and for the foreseeable future, I just want to be a one-car team that can run well every week.”

The No. 78 team finished 24th in the 2023 Xfinity Series owner standings, tying its personal best from 2020.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
