“I am very, very happy with the end. The way it went with our three-stop strategy at the start was making it tricky and I wasn’t in a great spot. As soon as the temperatures came down, the car came alive. It was hard to drive but the speed was good. The tires came in right away, which allowed us to have a good restart. It’s a good points day for the No. 29 and for our objective at the end of the season.”
START–9th
FINISH–12th
CHAMPIONSHIP–23rd (177 pts)
Andretti Autosport showed consistency in the first half of the Bommarito Automotive Group 500. Positions within the field of 26 remained largely unchanged until Alexander Rossi had a mechanical issue in pit lane, putting the driver multiple laps down. With 217 of the 260-lap race completed at World Wide Technology Raceway, rainy conditions caused a red flag. The restart brought the cars and track back alive with cooler temperatures as the sunset. However, with only 36 laps remaining, the Andretti Autosport foursome would stay in position for the remainder of the race.
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
