Back To Familiar Territory: Fan favorite Spencer Boyd returns to Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, eyeing his second top-10 of the season in the penultimate NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race of the season.

No. 117: This weekend at Martinsville, Boyd will make his 117th career NASCAR start. Boyd has three starts in the NASCAR Cup Series, 49 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and will make his 65th start in Trucks when the green flag waves Saturday afternoon.

The highlight of his NASCAR career is a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in October 2019 driving for Young’s Motorsports.

Spencer Boyd Truck Series Martinsville (Va.) Speedway Stats: Saturday afternoon’s United Rentals 200 will mark Boyd’s fifth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the famed Virginia short track.

In his four previous efforts, Boyd has a best finish of 15th twice in the 2019 and 2020 fall editions at the 0.526-mile paved oval. He carries an average finish of 21.3.

In addition to the Truck Series United Rentals 200, Boyd will drive the No. 52 Sparrow Dynamics Chevrolet Camaro for Jimmy Means Racing in the penultimate Dead On Tools 250 Xfinity Series race Saturday night.

Spencer Boyd Truck Series Short Tracks Stats: At NASCAR Camping World Truck Series tracks classified as a short track, Boyd has made nine starts throughout his career carrying an average finishing position of 22.9.

Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway | Chevrolet Silverado 250 Race Recap: In the most recent NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega, Boyd made his 64th career NCWTS start.

Starting 28th based on the metrics set by NASCAR without practice or qualifying, Boyd’s No. 20 Rounded Gear Silverado surged forward throughout the 99-lap race.

Hard work by Boyd and his Joe Lax-led team allowed the 2019 Talladega Truck Series winner to draft to a season-high seventh-place finish.

Boyd’s teammate Tate Fogleman won the race, putting two Young’s Motorsports trucks inside the top-10 for the first time in 2021.

To The Point(s): Entering Martinsville, Boyd sits 24th in the championship standings.

52 points separate Boyd from 20th in the championship standings currently held by teammate Fogleman with two races remaining this season.

Young’s Motorsports’ No. 20 team also secures 32nd in the NCWTS owner standings.

Chasing That W: Boyd is eyeing his second career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory for himself and Young’s Motorsports.

In 2019 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Boyd pulled an upset during the Truck Series Playoffs by winning the Sugarland Shines 250 at the 2.66-mile superspeedway edging Todd Gilliland by 0.027 seconds.

Truck Series Rundown: In five years of Truck Series competition, Boyd has 64 career Truck Series starts with one win, two top-five and three top-10 finishes and a championship best of 17th in 2019 and carries an average finish of 22.6.

Calling the Shots: Guiding Boyd as crew chief of the No. 20 Rounded by Concealment Express Chevrolet Silverado is veteran crew chief Joe Lax.

He will crew chief his 75th NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday afternoon. In his previous 74 races, he has one pole and seven top-10 finishes to his resume.

This weekend marks his fifth race as crew chief at Martinsville.
