“And just like that we are at the last race of the year. While this year has been full of missed opportunities, we’ve got a great chance this weekend to return the 27 guys to victory lane. We know what we are capable of at Long Beach and will be using the energy of the fans to get us there.”

Team owner Michael Andretti will serve as Grand Marshal for this weekend’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Andretti captured two Long Beach wins as a driver (1986, 2002), four wins as a team owner (2010, 2011, 2018, 2019) and a win as a Super Vee driver (1983). Andretti was honored permanently on the Long Beach Walk of Fame in 2010.

It has been almost 30 months since the NTT INDYCAR SERIES last raced in Long Beach, with the 2020 race cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2021 race moved to this September weekend from the traditional April race date.

Three of the four current drivers in the Andretti Autosport lineup have captured victory on the Streets of Long Beach (Hunter-Reay, 2010; Hinchcliffe, 2014; Rossi, 2018, 2019).

Defending, back-to-back race champion and California-native Alexander Rossi looks to score his first win of the 2021 season. Rossi’s back-to-back Long Beach wins have both been from the pole.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
