“I think it’s tough to do a 45-minute session on one set of tires, so we were waiting for most of the day – kind of waiting to see what kind of lap times other guys were doing. Compared to when we tested, the track is a lot better. It was quite nice. The car felt a little different from the test for me, so I think we have some adjustments to make to get back into the window. But, we’re right there and it’s a great start to be P2.”
After a 2020 hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES is back at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the championship’s penultimate event. A field of 27 cars took to the track today for one 45-minute practice session. Thanks to July testing in Monterey, the Andretti stable was able to roll off the trucks with a solid starting point, and also rely on past track success which includes the 2019 race win of Colton Herta and top-10 finishes from teammates James Hinchcliffe, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Alexander Rossi.
The Series will again see the 2.238-mile circuit Saturday for a second practice session followed by qualifying. The Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey goes green Sunday at 12:30 p.m. PT with live broadcast on NBC starting at noon.
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
