Electrical Issues Ruined Hinch’s Gateway

JAMES HINCHCLIFFE
No. 29 GENESYS HONDA
Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport

START–19th

FINISH–15th

CHAMPIONSHIP–19TH / 189 PTS.

OF NOTE: Started the race from the pits after an electrical issue delayed the No. 29 // Recorded as many points and positions as possible before retiring early.

“Unfortunately for us our day was kind of over before it started. We had an electrical issue on the warmup lap that forced us to come in. We were three laps down by the time we got out on track. It’s crazy to think we had so many yellows and we weren’t able to get a single one of those laps back with the way the yellows fell. We were hoping as the race went on, we’d be able to work some of those back and at least be on the lead lap. Just our luck. We had the issue then couldn’t catch any yellows to get laps back. It kind of became a race of survival for us, just staying out of the way. It’s a shame because the 29 Genesys car was actually pretty strong when we were running with the guys. We just wanted to bring it home in one piece after seeing a bunch of guys make mistakes, and guys that we were up against it in points have bad days when we kind of salvaged a finish. Tough to have a day start like that, but a reasonable finish all things considered.”

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
