Pocono Raceway Recap: Entering the double header weekend at Pocono Raceway, Denny Hamlin and the No. 11 FedEx team had two chances to visit victory lane. Hamlin entered the weekend with five wins to his credit and left The Tricky Triangle with an additional win and a second-place finish. For the Pocono Organics 325 on Saturday, Hamlin started the race from the third position and was able to lead 10 laps throughout the race before he found himself on the bumper of Kevin Harvick in the closing laps. Unable to get around Harvick for the win, the team settled for a second-place finish and vowed to come back and win on Sunday for the Pocono 350. With the top 20 finishers from Saturday’s race inverted for the start of the race on Sunday, Hamlin rolled off from the 19th position for the Pocono 350. Utilizing strategy and a fast Camry, Hamlin was able to make his way to the front of the field and again found himself battling with Harvick for the win. With crew chief Chris Gabehart playing the best strategy, Hamlin was able to lead 49 laps and come out in front of Harvick following the final pit stop of the race. Holding on to the lead, Hamlin earned his fourth win of the season and his sixth win at Pocono Raceway.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Preview: The NASCAR Cup Series now heads to the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Sunday’s 400-mile race. With 14 starts at the 2.5-mile track, Hamlin has yet to visit victory lane and kiss the coveted yard of bricks. In his 14 starts at the track, Hamlin has five top-five finishes and eight top-10 finishes with a best finish of third on three different occasions (2008, 2014, 2018). Hamlin’s average start is 13.9 and average finish is 12.4 and has led 112 laps.

Hamlin Conversation – Indianapolis Motor Speedway:

Looking ahead to this weekend’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“Coming off the strong weekend at Pocono, I’m looking forward to getting to Indy and trying to get my first win at The Brickyard. It’s another crown jewel race and one I’d like to add to my collection. This FedEx team is really strong right now and that’s a testament to all the hard work at the shop preparing our cars and giving us the chance to be strong from the start of the first run each week. All the guys are really on top of their game and that makes it fun to drive these cars. I know we have a shot to win every weekend when we show up at the track. This weekend at Indy will be a little different with INDYCAR competing at the track too, but I’m excited to see how it plays out.”

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
