No. 27 NAPA AUTO PARTS HONDA
STARTED 2nd // FINISHED 5th
CHAMPIONSHIP: 2nd (488 pts.)
OF NOTE:
Drove a two-stop strategy, putting the 27 into fuel conservation for a majority of the event.
Recorded a 27th top-five finish.
“It was a difficult day overall for us. We didn’t seem to have the pace on either tire. The team did a good job, kept me focused and we stayed with it and got a top five. We know we have to get points and fortunately luck was on our side today. The NAPA Andretti Honda team has done a great job all year. We’ve had pace – we’ve always been there. We just need some more race wins and hopefully we can get that after the two week break. We just need to refocus and hit ‘em hard at Pocono.”
With points leader Josef Newgarden falling out of the race in the closing lap, and the No. 27 coming home fifth, Alexander Rossi tightened the points gap to just 16 points heading into the mid-summer break.
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
