Ross Chastain Excels At Kentucky

Garrett Smithley & Ross Chastain

Ross Chastain turned in his best performance in the past six Xfinity Series races Saturday, finishing 19th in the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at Kentucky Speedway.

Chastain, driving the corvetteparts.net Chevrolet, started 21st and raced as high as 13th. He finished on the lead lap and kept the 16th position in the Xfinity driver standings.

The race was slowed by 12 cautions.

“It was a wild night,” Chastain said. “Just trying to stay out of the cautions was a full-time job, but we got some good speed out of the car and got a decent finish.”

Chastain finished 22nd in the season’s earlier visit to Kentucky Speedway.

Elliott Sadler won the race, the first event in the new Xfinity Chase playoffs.

The series moves on to Dover International Speedway in Delaware Oct. 1.
