Quotes

Cole Custer: “Last year at Eldora we qualified 24th and were coming up through the field when mechanical issues put us behind. You run so high there, and I guess I hit the wall too many times. We have some work to do to get into the Chase yet, and we know it. We’re glad to have OneMain on the Truck this week for the first time, and we’re working very hard to get the OneMain Chevy Silverado where we can make up some points and get into a qualifying position. Marcus [Richmond, crew chief] and the team are really putting in the time to make that happen. We need some momentum.”

Notes

  • Cole Custer has dirt-racing experience, winning a national championship in United States Auto Club Ford Focus midgets. He’s also raced go-karts and quarter-midgets on the dirt.
  • Last year at Eldora, Custer finished 29th after sustaining damage to the No. 00 machine in the first half of the race. He returned to the track 18 laps down after repairs.
  • Eldora marks the first of three races for Custer with OneMain colors on his No. 00 Chevrolet. The others are at Talladega and Martinsville in October.
  • Custer, sitting 13th in points, is 23 markers out of eighth in the standings, the cutoff for the inaugural Chase for the NCWTS.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
