Kyle Busch dominated the Auto Club 400 by leading the most laps most laps Sunday to complete the California weekend sweep!

The victory came on a pass of the two race cars that crashed while they were fighting for the win, best friends, Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin!  In a post race interview Kyle Busch said that he could not have won without Logan and Hamlin taking each other out in turn four of the final lap, while going for the win.

“They forgot about me,” Busch would say afterward.

On the restart with 11 laps to go, Joey Logano eased to the lead – briefly, as Kyle Busch came back to retake the lead on the same lap. Busch moved out to a five-car lead, but back came Logano.

With seven laps to go, Logano pulled even with Kyle Busch – and then ahead of KuBu – to the lead. Following Logano past Busch was Hamlin. Busch then fell well behind, to third place.

Hamlin and Logano went door to door down the back straight, banging door handles all the way.   Then into turns three and four the banging got more intense, ultimately leading Logan to drive deep into turn three, with a bonzai type move.

However, Logano’s front end lost grip and he got into the left side of Hamlin.  Hamlin then banged off of his car and ultimately caught Logano’s right rear quarter panel, putting Logano nose into the wall.  Hamlin then lost control, and careened head-on into the inside turn four wall extremely hard.

As they did, Busch powered past in Turn 4 and went on to get the win.

Hamlin was complaining of some pain and was airlifted to a local hospital for further observation.

After the race, Logano was attacked by Tony Stewart, who was mad about being blocked on the final restart.

“I’m going to bust his ass,” Stewart told reporters after the race.  (More on this subject on the next post!  Did Tony forget about the Oct 2012 race at Talladega, where he blocked Michael Waltrip, and took out 20 race cars to end the race?)  I’m just saying…………..

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
