GCR Quals 4th And 5th At The Rolex

The No. 01 Cadillac V-LMDh and the No. 02 Cadillac V-LMDh will start P4 and P5, respectively, in next weekend’s 24 Hours of Daytona race.

Just three minutes into IMSA’s GTP class qualifying session, a red flag was displayed after the No. 6 Porsche 963 went off at the bus stop. Sebastien Bourdais was then dealt a single flyer lap after the session went to green with two minutes and 30 seconds remaining. Bourdais capitalized on the opportunity and propelled the No. 01 to P4 with a fastest lap time of 1:34.262. Alex Lynn had previously piloted the No. 02 to a favorable time of 1:34.389 and settled into P5 to end qualifying.

Both of the Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillacs recorded their fastest lap times of the Roar Before the 24 weekend, improving on their previous bests from the six practice sessions.

On-track action will resume at Daytona International Speedway with three practice sessions on Thursday, January 26, in preparation for the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Sebastien Bourdais
“I honestly think that track picked up a crazy amount because the grip was up significantly and we’ve never run that fast. The car felt amazing and I’m really happy for the Cadillac team. It’s a strong start; obviously not the pole, but as close as we can get without getting it. I’m really happy and I think it bodes well for the race. We’re in it and it’s now about executing and making no mistakes and hoping that the gods of electronics are with us for 24 hours.”

Alex Lynn
“I’m pretty happy to be honest. We made a lot of improvements on the car over the last couple of days and I think where we ended up with the balance was really great. I’m very happy and we’ll see what next week brings. I’m really enjoying driving this Cadillac V-LMDh and it’s giving me really good feedback, and we’re improving it so much. It’s an enjoyable job when you just start making huge strides and improving with this brand new vehicle that we’ve got.”

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
