Rossi Grabs A Top Ten At Laguna Seca

ALEXANDER ROSSI
NO. 27 NAPA AUTO PARTS / AUTONATION HONDA

Completed his 114th career start and final race with Andretti Autosport after joining the team in 2016 as an INDYCAR rookie

Utilized a four-stop pit strategy to minimize tire deg during the 95-lap race

“It was quite a day. It hurts to finish in 10th place. We tried to be pretty aggressive with the alternate tires at the start, but unfortunately it didn’t quite pay off for us. Overall, it was a great weekend for the team, and it was good to end my time here with Andretti with some positivity and some points. I’m definitely going to miss the team and everyone I’ve worked with. Wishing everybody all the best for the future and I look forward to competing against Andretti next year.”

START–3rd
FINISH–10th
CHAMPIONSHIP–9

The Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey marked the final race of the 2022 NTT INDYCAR season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on Sunday. Romain Grosjean in the No. 28 DHL Honda led the quartet of Andretti Autosport entries as he completed the 95-lap race with his best finish on a road course this season of seventh. Making his final start with Andretti Autosport, Alexander Rossi made a dashing start to move into the top two on the opening lap. Continuous battles with competition on track and with tire strategy, would see Rossi cross the finish line in the No. 27 NAPA AUTO PARTS / AutoNation for the last time in 10th. Two-time race winner at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Colton Herta, struggled to replicate those results for a third time. After making an error in qualifying, he would start 18th determined to move forward. Herta succeeded and brought the season to a close in 11th just behind teammate Rossi. Devlin DeFrancesco brought his rookie season in the No. 29 Jones Soda Honda to a close making positive progress. DeFrancesco would see as high as eighth before finishing five spots higher than he started in 15th.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
