JAMES HINCHCLIFFE
No. 29 #SHIFTTOGREEN HONDA
Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport
START-22nd
FINISH-18th
CHAMPIONSHIP-19th / 44 PTS.
OF NOTE: Experienced a mechanical issue under the first yellow, unrelated to the multi-car incident at the start, forcing the Capstone crew to move the No. 29 back to the garages for repairs. After repairs were complete, Hinchcliffe was back out for 14 laps before ultimately retiring from the race.
“First and foremost, I have to give the 29 crew huge credit for all the work they had to do last night to get the car ready. We had to switch to a backup car, and they put in a lot of hours to get it going. Unfortunately, after we got through that wreck at the start, we noticed that something didn’t feel right in the back of the car. We came in and found a small problem, tried to go back out and it still didn’t feel 100% correct so we came back to the garage to do a full set-down. Ultimately, being that many laps down by the time we went back out, it wasn’t worth risking anything. We’ve just got to swallow this one. It sucks. It’s been a bad weekend for Andretti Autosport all around, I feel bad for everybody – the 29 car especially. But we’re getting a season’s worth of bad luck out of the way so when we get to Indy the milk will taste that much sweeter.”
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
