Advanced to the second round of qualifying for the first time in 2021 after an incident at the season opener at Barber did not allow for a timed lap.
“Qualifying was not bad – not great either. Obviously, the goal was to make it into the Firestone Fast Six and we’ve shown as a team we have good pace. We kind of got snookered in Q1 there only getting two laps on the reds, just a function of where we are in pit lane. We lost so much time on our out-lap gapping that we only got two laps instead of three, and most people were improving on the third. We were pretty happy to move through to Q2. We made a change between the two sessions and it unfortunately just made the balance worse – track conditions are changing a lot; the wind is pretty heavy. It’s unfortunate we weren’t able to extract more pace out of the car. But we’re starting around a bunch of teammates and hopefully we can have a good day in the Genesys car tomorrow.”
