No. 18 Monster Energy Toyota Supra News and Notes:
IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Riley Herbst’s Xfinity Series Playoff run might have ended, but his impressive rookie season presses on while his quest for his first win continues. He gave a valiant effort leading laps and battling in the top-10 the majority of the cutoff race under adverse weather and track conditions on the ROVAL at Charlotte Motor Speedway that he had never run a lap on.
HERBST AT KANSAS: Herbst has had several laps at Kansas Speedway to draw from in other Series with a ninth place finish last year in the Truck Series and two top-five and three top-10 finishes in the Menards ARCA Series. This will be his second start on the 1.5-mile oval and Crew chief Dave Rogers will keep the team focused on winning at Kansas.
JGR AT KANSAS SPEEDWAY: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) has 51 total starts at Kansas Speedway in NXS competition earning 10 wins, 17 top-five finishes, 30 top-10 finishes and five pole starting positions. The team has led 1,187 laps, completed 9,343 of 10,157 attempted laps (92.0%) and earned an average start of 10.5 with an average finish of 13.3.
RACE INFO: Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway (1.5-mile) begins at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 17th. The race will be broadcast live on NBCSN, Sirius XM Channel 90 and MRN Radio.
From the Cockpit:
Riley Herbst: “I am super bummed that our 18 Monster Energy team is out of the playoffs and didn’t make the round of 8. We had a strong Supra but didn’t close the deal. Now we head to Kansas Speedway and we are only looking forward. I feel this is the perfect track for us. I have several laps under my belt at Kansas with three top-10 finishes in the Menards ARCA Series, a ninth in the Truck Series and a ninth-place finish earlier this year in the Xfinity Series. I am looking forward to this mile-and-a-half and we will be digging deep into our notebook. Our goal is to win a race in the last four races of 2020, and I am confident we can do it. Our team is hungry and if we execute the way we know we can, we should be able to put our Monster Energy Supra in victory lane.”
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
