The Future Of Larson And Briscoe

Kyle Larson

Now that Clint Bowyer has signaled that he is hanging up his helmet, grabbing a microphone, and heading up into the FOX Sports 1 booth beginning in 2021, it would appear that there are two drivers at the top of the list as Bowyer’s replacement.

Up until a week ago it appeared that Kyle Larson was going to be scooped up by Stewart-Haas Racing and slipped into the SHR No. 14, because it was apparent that Bowyer was on his way out of that organization. But in the last week to ten days there has been rumblings that Rick Hendrick is attempting to pull all the strings available with primarily Chevy to be able to put Kyle into one of his cars, most notably the No. 48 ride. However, with the announcement this week of Alex Bowman sliding over to the HMS No. 48 ride from his No. 88 hot rod for 2021, that leaves the HMS No. 88 without driver now.

I believe that Hendrick is going to be successful in selling Kyle to some of the necessary sponsors that would allow Hendrick to offer gainful employment to Young Money for 2021. So lookout for an announcement from HMS in the immediate future that Kyle Larson is heading over to his campus to drive the No. 88 ride. Additionally, I would expect that Hendrick will renumber that team to either 25 or 5, both numbers were part of the Hendrick stable pre Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Chase Briscoe

Now with Bowyer moving upstairs to the FOX booth and out of the Stewart-Haas stable, that leaves the SHR No. 14 sans driver. Well, that will be a short lived vacancy! Expect to see that SHR will promote Chase Briscoe to fill that ride, the SHR No. 14, in the very near future. SHR cannot afford to loose this talented race car driver after he has come into his own in the NXS this season. Briscoe has logged eight (8) victories so far in 2020.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
