TRUEX AT TALLADEGA: Martin Truex Jr. owns a pair of top-five finishes and eight top-10s in 31 career NASCAR Cup Series starts at Talladega Superspeedway. Earlier this season, the No. 19 team was poised for a top-10 finish at Talladega before being collected in a multi-car accident on the last lap. Truex is a three-time winner at the track in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition.
LAS VEGAS RECAP: Truex finished fourth in last weekend’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After placing ninth and fourth in the first two stages, the New Jersey native was running third before an untimely caution shook up the running order with less than 50 laps remaining. Following a late pit stop, Truex rallied from 15th to fourth thanks to a pair of incredible restarts in the closing laps.
STATISTICAL RANKINGS: Truex ranks in the top five in multiple statistical categories, including top-five finishes (third), top-10s (third), laps led (fourth) and average finish (fourth). Talk about racing at Talladega given how tight the points situation currently is…
“I think you’ve got to approach it like any other race and try to get as many stage points as possible and put yourself in position to be up front all day. Talladega is always going to be what it is, and things can and probably will happen regardless of where you’re running in the pack. Everyone knows that going in, so we’ll just have to race hard and make the most of the day.”
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
