No. 19 Toyota Camry News and Notes
TRUEX AT DOVER: Martin Truex Jr. is a three-time NASCAR Cup Series winner at Dover International Speedway with his most recent victory coming last May. Overall, he has finished fourth or better in six of the past seven races at the Monster Mile, including the win last spring and a runner-up result in the fall race. Truex’s 16 top-10 finishes at Dover are tied for his most at any track on the Cup Series schedule.
FIRST WIN: Dover International Speedway was the site of Truex’s first career NASCAR Cup Series victory in 2007. In what was his 58th Cup Series start, the Mayetta, New Jersey native started 26th and led 216 of 400 laps on the way to the first of his 27 wins at NASCAR’s top level.
DOVER DOMINATION: When Truex wins at Dover, he leaves no doubt about it when it comes to who has the fastest car. His 2007 margin of victory was 7.355 seconds. Then in 2016, he bumped that up to 7.527 seconds over second place. Last spring, he took the checkered flag by 9.501 seconds over the runner-up finisher.
DAYTONA ROAD COURSE RECAP: Truex started third, led three times for 10 laps and finished third in last weekend’s race at the Daytona Road Course. The race wasn’t a simple one for the No. 19 team because Truex, who was leading at the time, was penalized for speeding on pit road late in the second stage. After restarting from the rear of the field to begin the final segment, he suffered minor left-front fender damage that forced the No. 19 team to start from the back again after making a pit stop for repairs. In the end, Truex charged his way forward to earn his sixth top-three finish in the past seven races.
TOP-FIVE STREAK: Truex’s current run of five consecutive top-five finishes matches the best streak of his Cup Series career. He previously earned five straight top-fives to close out his 2017 championship season and matched the feat twice during the 2018 campaign.
STATISTICAL RANKINGS: Having already clinched a spot in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs by virtue of his win at Martinsville Speedway in June, Truex currently sits seventh in the overall points standings after 23 races. He ranks in the top five in multiple statistical categories, including green flag speed (first), fastest drivers late in a run (second), fastest laps run (third), fastest drivers early in a run (fourth), laps in the top 15 (fifth) and percentage of laps run on the lead lap (fifth). He has also accumulated the fifth-most stage points so far this season.

NASCAR Cup Series champions Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Bobby Labonte and Tony Stewart join Truex on the list of drivers who have driven JGR entries to victory lane in Dover.
TUNE IN: Coverage of Saturday and Sunday’s races begins at 4 p.m. ET each day. Both races will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Talk about going to Dover – one of your best tracks – for a doubleheader this weekend…
“Dover is one of my favorite tracks on the circuit. I’ve been fortunate to have had success there throughout my career and it’s a place that just fits my driving style regardless what package we run there. Obviously, we ran really well there last year with the 550 (horsepower) package, but I feel confident in what we’ll bring this weekend with the low downforce package as well. I feel like it’s definitely a place we can have a shot to win both races, which is what we need as far as Playoff points are concerned as we finish up the regular season.”
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
