Brandon Jones Preps For Daytona Road Course

Brandon Jones

No. 19 Menards/Inspire Toyota Supra News and Notes:

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Brandon Jones and the 19 Menards team head to one of the most historic tracks on the circuit this weekend proudly displaying Inspire on their hood. After Watkins Glen had to cancel their race, because of travel restrictions, NASCAR moved the race to Daytona International Speedway. This race will have a lot of unknowns for all the teams and a win there would be huge. You can throw all the statistics out the window this weekend from any previous Xfinity Series race at Daytona and the 19 team will be focused on the best finish to keep their momentum heading toward the Playoffs.

INAUGURAL RACE: NASCAR added a new twist to the schedule by replacing the canceled Watkins Glen race with the Daytona road course. The high-banked tri-oval/infield road course with the addition of a chicane at the exit of turn 14 will provide another passing zone creating a 14-turn, 3.57-mile layout (from the 3.56-mile/12 turn) on the storied Daytona Road Course for the first time in history. This should be a very exciting unknown for the fans to watch on television.

From the Cockpit:

Brandon Jones: “After a crazy race at Road America, I am looking forward to using what we learned towards the inaugural road course race this weekend at Daytona International Speedway. It’s going to be a big unknown for all the drivers since this will be everyone’s first time on the course. We will run the road course-oval hybrid utilized during the Rolex 24 with the addition of a chicane off oval turn four because of the predicted high speeds and braking.   It should also provide another passing zone and make it really wild for the drivers and fans.  The chicane creates the 14th turn on the 3.57-mile layout. I will have a lot of virtual laps under my belt at the 14-turn course using the TRD Simulator before I arrive. Jeff Meendering and I will also be hitting the notes from the Roval to help us get prepared. Honestly, I’m not sure what to expect for the weekend, but our Menards/Inspire team is focused on coming out with the best finish we can on the historic racetrack. “

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
