LUCK OF THE DRAW: Martin Truex Jr. will start on the pole for Wednesday night’s NASCAR All-Star Race after the random draw held Monday afternoon. This marks the first time the Mayetta, New Jersey native will start first for the All-Star Race or any race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

TRUEX AT BRISTOL: Truex has two top-five finishes and three top-10s in NASCAR Cup Series competition at Bristol Motor Speedway. When the Cup Series visited the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’ in May, Truex ran as high as second and was solidly in the top 10 before being spun from behind on a late-race restart. As a result, he ended up with a 20th-place finish.

TRUEX ALL-STAR STATS: Truex has advanced to the NASCAR All-Star Race in multiple ways. He made his All-Star debut in 2005 after receiving the Fan Vote into the main event. In 2007 and 2010, he raced his way in through the Open race. In 2008, Truex secured his place in the race thanks to his first career victory at Dover International Speedway the previous year. For the past five years, Truex has become a mainstay in the race by winning races each season. In nine career NASCAR All-Star Race starts, he has a best finish of second and three top-10s overall.

KENTUCKY RECAP: Truex led 57 laps in the final stage of last weekend’s race at Kentucky Speedway and held a sizeable lead before a series of late-race cautions and restarts ultimately thwarted his efforts to pick up his second victory of the season. He ended the afternoon with a second-place finish.

BASS PRO SHOPS: A longtime supporter of Truex and NASCAR, Bass Pro Shops will be featured as primary sponsor of the No. 19 Camry for the NASCAR All-Star Race. Bass Pro Shops is North America’s premier outdoor and conservation company. Founded in 1972 when avid young angler Johnny Morris began selling tackle out of his father’s liquor store in Springfield, Missouri. Today the company provides customers with unmatched offerings spanning premier destination retail, outdoor equipment manufacturing, world-class resort destinations and more.

JGR AT BRISTOL: Joe Gibbs Racing has claimed 13 NASCAR Cup Series wins at Bristol Motor Speedway. Overall, the team has accumulated 36 top-five finishes, 54 top-10s and more than 6,000 laps led at the .533-mile oval. Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart have all raced JGR entries to victory lane in Bristol.

JGR ALL-STAR STATS: Joe Gibbs Racing has earned a pair of victories in the annual NASCAR All-Star Race. Both victories have come in the past five years as Denny Hamlin won the race in 2015 and Kyle Busch took the checkers in 2017.

TUNE IN: Coverage of the NASCAR All-Star Race at Bristol Motor Speedway begins Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1, MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.

Are you excited to head to Bristol for the All-Star Race?

“It should be exciting. Doing it a little different. Bristol is obviously a great short track and always exciting racing there. I think it’s the perfect spot to have the All-Star Race. Hopefully it will put on a big show.”

Have you used the ‘choose rule’ in other series you’ve competed in prior to NASCAR and do you have an idea of how many rows it would take to move to the other groove?

“I’ve never done it before. Honestly, I’ve been racing NASCAR long enough that short tracks weren’t even doing this back then. It’s been a while for sure. I think it will just depend on the racetrack and we’ll see how it plays out. Bristol is definitely a place where you can make either lane work depending on how your car is working and things like that. I think it will be pretty straightforward at Bristol. I don’t really see guys giving up rows, but definitely there’s some options there and maybe it will give you a chance to take some chances somewhere.”
