TRUEX AT POCONO: Martin Truex Jr. is a two-time winner at Pocono Raceway after capturing victories at the track in 2015 and 2018. In 28 career NASCAR Cup Series starts at the 2.5-mile tri-oval, Truex has posted six top-five finishes, 11 top-10s and a pole award in 2016. TALLADEGA RECAP: Truex started from the pole and led the opening four laps of Monday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway. From there, he spent much of the day racing throughout the pack and ultimately finished 24th after being collected in a multi-car accident on the final lap.
MIDWAY THROUGH THE REGULAR SEASON: The NASCAR Cup Series season is officially halfway through the 26-race regular season and Truex currently sits seventh in the points standings. Truex is one of eight drivers to secure a spot in the Playoffs thanks to his win at Martinsville Speedway on June 10. He ranks in the top five in multiple statistical categories, including percentage of laps run on the lead lap (first), fastest driver in a run (second), green flag speed (second), fastest drivers late in a run (third), fastest laps run (third), stage points (fifth) and fastest on restarts (fifth).

Talk about the challenge of racing Pocono twice in one weekend.
“Pocono is always a tough track when it comes to getting your car balanced for all three corners, so we need to show up Saturday ready to go because track position is going to be very important. Everybody knows going in that it’s going to be hard to pass with the 550 (horsepower) package. Obviously where you start is the luck of the draw, so hopefully we can get a decent starting spot and have a good run on Saturday to set ourselves up for Sunday. You really need to be in the top 20 in that first race because having a bad race on Saturday will make it really tough to get a good finish Sunday with how difficult passing is going to be and it being a shorter race than we’re used to.”
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
