In the past four fall races at the track, Truex has finished sixth, seventh, second and third.

In nine races on ovals with the 750-horsepower package, Truex has picked up three wins, five top-five finishes, seven top-10s and led 494 laps. In those races, he posted a 5.7-average finishing position and an 8.7-average starting position.

The No. 19 team finished sixth on Sunday afternoon at Kansas Speedway. After starting 11th, Truex raced his way into the top 10 early and finished fourth in stage one. He led 33 laps during stage two before ultimately ending up third. During the final stage, Truex battled a tight handling condition before crossing the finish line sixth to secure his spot in the Round of 8.

Truex enters the NASCAR Playoffs Round of 8 ranked second. He is currently four points out of the lead and 14 points ahead of the cutoff position heading into the round’s first race. So far, Truex has earned two Playoff wins and finished seventh or better in five of the six races. Earlier this season, he finished eighth at Martinsville Speedway, 12th at Texas Motor Speedway and second at ISM Raceway.

Talk about your outlook going into the Round of 8…

“We know what we need to do. Now it’s just a matter of going out and doing it. I know Cole (Pearn) and the guys have a good plan every week, so I’m confident we can do that. We have been fast, ran up front and led laps at all three of these tracks in this round. All eight guys would love to go into Martinsville this week and win the race to move on. That’s our goal, but we also feel good about the other tracks too. I’ve led a lot of laps at Texas in my career. Just haven’t got the win there. And then Phoenix, we ran second there in the spring and felt really good about how our car ran. I’m looking forward to it. We’ve got a great team. We just have to go out and execute.”
