Long Pond, Pa. (August 19, 2019) The #88 Capstone Turbine Honda finished the ABC Supply 500 in 16th position after starting the race in 14th. Rain delays were a key factor of the weekend causing qualifying to be cancelled.

After avoiding a major crash on lap one, the #88 Capstone Turbine Honda spent most of the race in the top-ten as Herta maneuvered through the field up to seventh position. The team’s race ended early when the #88 hit the wall on lap 74.

“The #88 Capstone Turbine Honda had a decent run going during today’s race,” said Brian Barnhart. “I was really proud of Colton for recovering from a long first pit stop, and we were actually the only car on the race track that was moving forward. We had come up from 11th to seventh and were on track to continue to pass. We had a good car, he just got caught up in the wake of the No. 2 car. Colton was trying to get in a better position to go around him later in the lap, but the back end moved out on him and unfortunately ended the day. Colton has been doing outstanding throughout the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season. We’re really proud of how sharp he is on track everywhere we go. He always has excellent pace, so luckily we get to race again next week at Gateway!”

“The #88 Capstone Turbine race car guys gave me a great car for the ABC Supply 500,” said Colton Herta. “I think we had one of the better cars on track today and definitely a better car than where we finished. It’s unfortunate that we got into the wall. It’s very disappointing, but I know we’ll be able to rebound next week at Gateway. I really like racing there, and I’m excited to compete under the lights.”

Opening practice for the Bommarito 500 begins on Friday, August 23 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Qualifying will be live from World Wide Technology Raceway on NBC Sports on Friday at 5:15 p.m. ET. Live coverage of the Bommarito 500 will be on NBC Sports at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 24.
