Veach Battled Balanced Issues at Pocono

Zach Veach

No. 26 GAINBRIDGE HONDA

STARTED 18th // FINISHED 13th

CHAMPIONSHIP: 17th (223 pts.)

“Thirteenth obviously isn’t where we wanted to finish – but all things aside, it was an okay day for us. Just lacking overall grip, I think as a team, but we moved forward from our starting spot – which with qualifying being canceled hurt us. I’m thankful for all the work the guys did. Honestly, walking away 13th isn’t what we want, but we did all we could and I’m proud of that. We’ll go to Gateway and have a better result.

When the green flag waved at Pocono Raceway, there was no shortage of immediate action. Before the first lap was complete, the first caution period of the ABC Supply 500 was brought out and eventually led to the first of two red-flag periods.

In Turn 2, the No. 30 machine of Takuma Sato came down into the racing machine of Alexander Rossi who was in the middle of a three-wide run with Sato and Ryan Hunter-Reay. The contact forced Rossi into the No. 28 machine and collected the race cars of James Hinchcliffe and Felix Rosenqvist

Zach Veach started a strong race but battled the same balance issue as teammates. He eventually was shown as high as fourth during pit sequence before ending the day in 13th.

After 128 laps, inclement weather nearing the track forced a red flag and when the rain came, so did the checkered. The team leaves Pocono looking forward to the Bommarito 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
