Stewart Friesen Is Staying Very Busy Dirt And Pavement Rqacing

Coming off its best finish yet this season, the No. 52 Halmar International Chevy Silverado that HFR ran at Kansas was solid. Having been rebuilt for Charlotte, another 1.5 mile track, Stewart Friesen and crew chief Trip Bruce knew they had a strong performing truck going into the race.  Though not as strong a finish as last week, Friesen still managed another top ten coming in at 6th from a starting position of 10th.

For the second week in a row, Nascar Monster Energy Cup driver, Kyle Busch raced in the NCWTS.  There was some perceived friction between Friesen and Busch following Kansas, however, when asked what the deal was with their interaction, Friesen said “I don’t really think there is a deal,” and “I don’t expect that to be a big deal moving forward.”

Immediately following Charlotte’s NCWTS race, Friesen traveled to Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee for his second ever start in a Super Late Model car at the US Short Track Nationals.  With legendary and infamous dirt and NASCAR driver, Gary Balough’s coaching, Friesen looks to expand his dominance on short tracks to the asphalt arena.

Friesen’s No. 112 Super Late Model ride bears the colors and likeness of Balough’s famous 1980 dirt modified, nicknamed “The Batmobile,” a car that would change the sport of dirt track racing forever.

In Sunday’s race at Bristol, Friesen secured a 2nd place finish.  This is his second ever race on asphalt in a Super Late Model, his first also being a 2nd place finish at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tennessee.

Between his Super Late Model runs and his recent finishes in the NCWTS, Friesen is proving that he can consistently finish strong on asphalt, while still maintaining his status as one of the dirt’s winningest drivers this year.  Friesen is projected to win more than 25% of all dirt races he competes in for 2018.
