Under sunny skies from the Racing Capital of the World, Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross made their Indianapolis debut at Lucas Oil Raceway for Day 1 of Red Bull Global Rallycross Round 7 racing. Tomorrow sees Scott Speed and Tanner Foust take to the 0.767-mile track for Heats 2 and 3, Semifinal and Final events.

Round 7 Finals from Red Bull Global Rallycross Indianapolis air Sunday, July 9, on NBC Sports Network at 8 p.m. ET.
No. 41 OBERTO CIRCLE K BEETLE GRC
  • Finished practice first with a fastest lap of 46.123
  • Qualified first with a lap time of 44.750, his third pole of the season
  • Won Heat 1B after starting from the pole position
  • Will start first in tomorrow’s Heat 2B
“It’s been a perfect weekend so far. Tomorrow we just have to keep it clean and get off the line which hasn’t gone perfectly to plan so far. We’re still struggling to consistently get off the line. Luckily we haven’t gotten bit by it yet, but we’re still working hard to make sure our launches are consistent because if we get off the line clean we are dialed in on the rest of the track. It’s always great when we can get the Oberto Circle K car across the finish line first and hopefully we will get a few more wins for the home crowd in Indianapolis tomorrow.”
No. 34 ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK BEETLE GRC
  • Finished fourth in practice with a fastest lap of 46.561
  • Qualified second with a lap time of 45.075
  • Finished fifth in Heat 1A
  • Will start fourth in tomorrow’s Heat 2A
“It was a rough day today. We had several problems but the team did an amazing job of getting us out there for qualifying after discovering a mechanical issue. In the heat race, things were going according to plan and Scott and I had worked ourselves into a comfortable 1-2. There was a little bit of a mix up on which lap we were going to joker which caused a desperate attempt into the joker and I was assessed a penalty for not hitting the commitment box. The penalty was just enough to put us last in the heat so we will move on to tomorrow. It makes tomorrow a bigger fight but we are here to push.”

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
