Blake Koch at Dover International Speedway… Blake Koch has 12 previous starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) at Dover International Speedway. His best-career start (19th) and finish (12th) at the track came in this race last year. The last time the NXS visited Dover, Koch started 20th and finished 14th after leading 15 laps – the most he has led at any track.
Sounding Off- Blake Koch… “Dover is absolutely my favorite racetrack. There’s just something about it that I love. I haven’t mastered qualifying, but I’m always fast in the race. I love how much grip there is and the different lanes for passing. The atmosphere around the track is great too. We were really strong here the last time we were here before we ran out of gas due to an untimely caution. It’s amazing to think that this race last year we didn’t even have our race shop completed and the team was working by flashlight to get the car ready because we didn’t have the electricity turned on yet.”
2017 Season… Koch is currently 10th in the NXS Championship standings after 10 races. He has recorded one pole position, three top-10 starts, one top-10 finish and six top-15 finishes. Last week at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Koch finished 19th after starting 18th, tying his best-career start at the track. In a race that saw 12 caution flags, Koch’s car was better on the long run, which there were not many of in the 200-lap race.
Blake Koch NXS Career… Koch makes his 191st NXS start this weekend at Dover International Speedway. To date, Koch has a career-best NXS starting position of first at Talladega Superspeedway (May 2017), and a career-best NXS finish of eighth at RIR (April 2016), Bristol Motor Speedway (August 2016) and Phoenix International Raceway (November 2016).
