FAST FRIDAY REPORT
05.19.17
No. 28 DHL HONDA
  • Finished the week of practice second fastest overall with a speed of 232.132 mph
  • Clocked the fastest no-tow lap of the week at 231.273 mph
“Fast Friday was definitely fast! We had a good run today – found somethings that worked and found some things that didn’t. It was definitely one of the most on-edge couple of days this whole year. It’s nice to be done with the day and we’re looking forward to tomorrow. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we can put this 28 DHL Honda at the front.”
No. 26 ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT HONDA
  • Scored the third-fastest lap of the week at 231.969 mph
  • Ranks eighth on the no-tow charts with a speed of 230.708 mph
“It was quite good day. Very productive, I must admit. The six cars we have are working quite seamlessly. We share most of the data together. Obviously, oval speed is sometimes a little artificial. Some people get tow, but it was obviously good to see we all up there, especially non-tow lap, which is a true speed. I’m pretty happy. Looks like I’m eighth quickest in no tow laps. I’ll take it with the conditions today. In terms of where we are in terms of the car setup, I’m feeling better. I’m actually enjoying the working all together with Andretti Autosport. This is the best situation or environment compared to past few years of my experience in Indy 500 (this) close to the qualifying.  This is a good preparation.  It’s all coming together.”
No. 29 MCLAREN HONDA ANDRETTI
  • Finished the quickest rookie of the week in fourth with an overall top speed of 231.827 mph
  • Put down a fast no-tow lap of 230.966 mph, holding the fifth fastest spot
“It’s going to be interesting to see what trim configuration the team decides to ultimate. We will see tomorrow’sconditions, how they are and how much we can push in terms of trimming the car. Tomorrow is about doing a good four laps, hopefully in the first nine and wait for Sunday for the real final classification. Tomorrow is another day, but for me, in my case, it is another learning day. We’ll see what we can do but there’s not much pressure for tomorrow.”
No. 98 NAPA AUTO PARTS / CURB HONDA
  • Rounded out the top 10 with a quick speed of 231.191 mph
  • Saw a no-tow speed of 231.191 mph, claiming third on the charts
“We used the rain delay to our advantage and found some speed in the NAPA car. I feel like we may be 95% of the way there, so we just need to really make sure get everything right tomorrow with there being a very good shot that it will just be one run due to weather. So, we have to really do our homework overnight and make sure all the pieces are put together, because we have a car to be at the front.”
No. 27 UNITED FIBER & DATA HONDA
  • Finished the week 15th overall with a fast speed of 230.769 mph
  • Earned the 11th spot on the no-tow list clocking a speed of 230.020 mph
“The car was on the loose side of town today. We think we found some things in the set down that could have been the culprit – we’re hoping we found it. Tomorrowwe will have a chance to make sure we found it and hopefully get the UFD car in the fast nine.”
No. 50 MICHAEL SHANK RACING W/ ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT
  • The rookie turned 23 laps today, scoring a fast speed of 228.426 mph
  • A mechanical issue set the team back early in the session, but with hard work the No. 50 was back on track with just over 45 minutes remaining in the day
“It’s been a pretty typical day for us for how the week has played out. The Michael Shank Racing guys did a great job today and the track ended up drying so we could get back out there. Today we started to get into some qualifying trims and I actually think our non-tow time was pretty comparable and competitive. I think we are right in the ballpark of where we wanted to be and what we thought we could be. We’ve been ending all the days well, we just need to make sure we have a problem free day (tomorrow) so we can keep building and working on everything.”

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
