Helio Castroneves Grabs The Pole For The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach

Team Penske Long Beach Notes:

·       Helio Castroneves won the pole for Sunday’s Grand Prix of Long Beach, the second of 17 Verizon IndyCar Series events this season.

·       This is Castroneves’ first Verizon P1 Pole Award of the 2017 season.

·       The pole is the 48th of his INDYCAR career (7 CART/41 IRL/IC), placing him fourth on the all-time series poles list. He is one shy from tying Bobby Unser for third all-time.

·       It was Castroneves’ third consecutive Long Beach pole win and his fourth overall.

·       It is the sixth straight season in which Castroneves has won at least one pole.

·       It is Castroneves’ 11th career pole win on a street course.

·       This is the 12th pole for Team Penske at Long Beach and seventh in the last nine events at the Southern California street course.

·       Team Penske has won 14 of the last 18 Verizon IndyCar Series pole awards dating back to the start of the 2016 season.

·       Team Penske won the pole position in the Verizon IndyCar Series, the NASCAR XFINITY Series and the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship this weekend with Castroneves, Joey Logano and Scott McLaughlin taking the honors, respectively.

·       This is the 247th Verizon IndyCar Series pole win in the history of Team Penske and the 513th pole for the organization overall.
