After a much-deserved weekend off, the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) resumes action this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway for Saturday afternoon’s running of the My Bariatric Solutions 300.
For B.J. McLeod Motorsports (BJMM), the Mooresville, N.C.-based team head to the Lone Star State looking to keep their recent surge of momentum rolling from the west coast swing.
In the most recent race at Auto Club Speedway, team principal B.J. McLeod earned his best finish of the season with a 23rd lead lap finish, while drivers David Starr and Jeff Green were close behind in 24th and 29th respectively.
With their first off-weekend of the year now in the rear-view mirror, McLeod (No. 78), Starr (No. 99) and Green (No. 8) head to Texas Motor Speedway where they’ll embrace a newly repaved 1.5-mile oval which also has been reconfigured with hopes of creating more passing and excitement.
“The off week was a good thing for us,” said McLeod. “After five straight races, we needed some downtime to collect our thoughts, work on the cars and repair for a hefty stretch of racing in April, May and June.
“I’m really proud of my guys though. We came off Phoenix and Auto Club with back-to-back improving finishes and both on the lead lap. I think with a couple more laps, we could have picked up a spot or two at Auto Club.
“As for Texas, there’s a lot of unknowns, but we’ll have a good amount of practice time and we’ll use that to the best of our ability. For the race, we strive to go out there and do the best we can. Improve our cars through the stages and see if can grab a couple more top-25 finishes heading into Easter.”
Joining BJMM this weekend as an associate marketing partner is Babe’s Chicken Dinner House.
Have you ever told your family what you’d do different if you opened a restaurant? Grandma’s recipes, friendly people. Well, that’s exactly why Babe’s Chicken Dinner House was opened. They wanted a sit-down restaurant where people really feel at home. Babe’s is a casual place where you’ll feel comfortable in your blue jeans or cutoffs. Where your neighbors wait on you and your whole family.
We put our money in our food, not in a freeway location or fancy decor. Since they don’t advertise a lot, they depend on their customers to get the word out. So, bring the kids and bring Aunt Hazel, but leave that dog at home!
Hopefully, you find our food better than typical restaurants. The difference comes by buying the highest quality meats, vegetables and other ingredients, and preparing them as you would at home.
To keep everything as fresh as possible we prepare small amounts of each recipe over and over, so the last customer has a meal just as good as the first customer.
Green will make his 16th start at Texas and eyes his fifth career top-10 finish in the Lone Star State. Green is also a two-time pole winner at TMS capturing the fastest qualifying lap in 1997 and 2002 respectively.
McLeod, a native of Wauchula, Fla. will make his third career XFINITY start at Texas Motor Speedway.
Starr, the Houston, Tex. native is set for his 15th career XFINITY Series showing in his backyard, aboard the No. 99 Whataburger® Chevrolet. His best finish in 14 prior starts is 15th in 2014.
For Texas, B.J. McLeod Motorsports is proud to welcome the additional support of ICE-FROST and @CouchCrewChief who will serve as associate marketing partners for the team’s 39th career XFINITY Series race.
The My Bariatric Solutions 300 (150 laps / 300 miles) is the sixth of 33 NASCAR XFINITY Series on the 2017 schedule. Practice begins on Fri., Apr. 7 from 1:30 p.m. – 2:55 p.m. A second and final practice session is set from 4:00 p.m. – 4:55 p.m. Qualifying is set for race day, Sat., Apr. 8beginning at 9:35 a.m. The 40-car field will take the green flag shortly after 12:30 p.m. with live coverage on FOX Sports 1, the Performance Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Satellite Radio, Channel 90).
