Ryan Preece

Ryan Preece scored his sixth top-20 run in the past eight races Sunday, the Saturday race was delayed by rain for nearly 19 hours, with an 18th-place finish in the Drive Sober 200 at Dover International Speedway.

Preece, driving the Meding’s Seafood/Iron Source Chevrolet, finished two laps down and retained his 17th-place standing in the Xfinity driver standings.

“We had a decent car,” Preece said. “Dover is a tough track to get a handle on, but we were running pretty good most of the day – able to race with the lead group quite a bit. It was a good day.”

Preece ran as high as ninth during the early afternoon race.

Daniel Suarez won the race and advanced to the Round of  Eight, the first Xfinity Chase playoff race.

The series’ next race is Oct. 7 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
