Grant Enfinger
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
DC Solar 350 – Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Start: 12th
Finish: 10th
Owners Points Position: 15th
Grant Enfinger drove GMS Racing’s No. 24 Champion Power Equipment Chevrolet Silverado to a 10th-place finish on Saturday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, collecting his fourth top-10 finish the 2016 season. Enfinger qualified 12th earlier in the day, and raced in the top 15 through the first 39 green-flag laps. The Fairhope, Ala., driver reported to crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz that he was experiencing a tight-handling chassis in the exit of the turns. When the caution clock expired on lap 39, Enfinger brought the No. 24 Champion Power Equipment Chevrolet to pit road for four tires and fuel. Enfinger restarted in the 12th position on lap 43 and broke into the top 10 on lap 50, but was still battling with a tight-handling chassis. He fell back into 12th on lap 70 and maintained that position until the caution clock once again expired on lap 95. Stankiewicz called his driver to pit road for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment but ran into complications on pit road causing Enfinger to lose track position and restart 16th on lap 98. The event stayed green for the remainder of the 146-lap race, giving the 31-year-old time to charge through the field reaching the 11th position on lap 140. Enfinger gained one spot in the closing laps of the race to bring home a 10th-place finish.
GRANT ENFINGER QUOTE:
“We were pretty solid all weekend. Jeff (Stankiewicz, crew chief) made some really great changes to loosen the truck on exit. I made some mistakes on my part that caused us to loose track position, but this No. 24 crew never stopped. We fought back and brought the truck home in one piece and earned another top-10 finish. Now, we move onto my home track at Talladega and we’re ready to put on a show.”
