PREECE 17TH IN MID-OHIO DEBUT

Ryan Preece turned in a fine performance in his Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course debut Saturday, finishing 17th in the Mid-Ohio Challenge.

Preece started 24th and ran as high as third before settling into a spot with the front-running group and finishing on the lead lap.

The race was a particular challenge because rain hit the track several times, sending drivers to the pits for wet-weather tires.

“It was a wild day,” Preece said. “All things considered – my first race here and the crazy weather, I thought we did well. Road racing is a different animal for me, and it was today, for sure.”

Preece stayed 17th in Xfinity driver points with the finish.

Justin Marks won the race, his first victory in the series. Elliott Sadler kept the point lead.

The series moves on to Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee for an Aug. 19 race.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
