Mid-Race Incident Relegates Gallagher to a 29th-Place Finish at Eldora Speedway

Spencer Gallagher, driver of the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet Silverado, earned a 29th-place finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Aspen Dental Eldora Dirt Derby 150 on Wednesday night at Eldora Speedway.

Gallagher started the race from the ninth-position as a result of finishing second in his qualifying race. In the early stages of the 150-lap event, Gallagher reported that he had neutral balance. The 27-year old moved up into the sixth-position on lap 4. Gallagher battled for position within the top-five but ultimately dropped back into the 11th position on lap 10 where he remained until he was involved in a multi-truck pile up that placed the field under red flag conditions on lap 39. Gallagher’s truck was taken to the garage and the No. 23 Allegiant Travel crew worked to fix the damage to the radiator and body. The Las Vegas, native returned to the field on lap 80 in the 29th position. As a result of the earlier incident, Gallagher remained in the 29th position, 43 laps down, as he crossed the start-finish line.

“Man, that was a tough race. We had a really great Allegiant Travel Chevy tonight. I am really disappointed with how it ended for us. I got in that pile up in Turn 3 and it damaged my radiator and the truck pretty good, but my GMS Racing crew worked their tails off to get me back out on the track to finish the race. Even though things didn’t work out great for us, I’m really happy that Kyle (Larson), Jeff (Stankiewicz, No. 24 crew chief), and the No. 24 team could get the win for GMS Racing.”

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will return to action on July 30 at Pocono Raceway.
