Rookie, and 19 year old driver for Brad Keselowski Racing, Tyler Riddick wins his first race of his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series career in his very first trip to the famed Daytona International Speedway! This was only Riddick’s 19th NCWTS.
Riddick held of another young gun in the NCWTS, Kyle Busch Motorsports driver and Joe Gibbs Racing developmental driver, Erik Jones, who sling shot himself from fourth to second entering the tri-oval at the checkered flag. Riddick led a race high of 46 of the 100 lap race.
In the end, Reddick had to hold off late charges from Erik Jones, Scott Lagasse Jr. and his Brad Keselowski Racing teammate, Austin Theriault to hold on for the win. Ray Black Jr. rounded out the top five.
Polesitter Ty Dillon led 37 laps but ended up with an 11th-place finish.
The “Big One” came on Lap 49 with 12 trucks involved in the pile-up including Johnny Sauter, John Wes Townley, James Buescher, Cameron Hayley, Timothy Peters and Ben Kennedy among others.
