Team Penske owner, Roger Penske, was adamant that he has “no interest” in Carl Edwards.
Penske, who was at Texas Motor Speedway this past weekend for the NASCAR/IndyCar double-header told Catchfence.com that Team Penske is currently not in a position to field a third NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team in 2015, despite the chatter.
“There’s no interest,” he said. “We don’t have the sponsorship to do a third full-time team, and he’s under contract with Roush Fenway Racing. It doesn’t make sense.”
That sounds pretty cut and dried, doesn’t it? Well it does for now. Could all of that change?
But will that be the Team Penske last and final answer? Roger Penske did state that Team Penske does not have the sponsorship for a third team, presently. However, would he be interested in employing Edwards if Edwards walked in the door with his own sponsorship package neatly signed and sealed in an envelope, like Clint Bowyer did with Michael Waltrip Racing?
That may be a whole different proposition!
Nevertheless, I am not so sure that we have heard the last of the possibility of Edwards moving to Team Penske in 2015!
Additionally, there is still the “garage noise” that Edwards may also land at Joe Gibbs Racing in 2015.
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
