Today Stewart-Haas Racing has announced that Richard Childress’ grandson, former Camping World Truck Series champion, Austin Dillon has been selected to drive The SHR Mobil1 #14 Chevy this weekend at the Michigan International Speedway, while Tony Stewart is recuperating from a severely broken leg.  Not only is young Austin Dillon a former Camping World Truck Series champion, he is currently leading the points in the Nationwide Series this year.

From a sponsor’s perspective, it makes sense.  The SHR #14 Chevy is not only sponsored by Mobil1, but also sponsored by Bass Pro Shops.  Not so quite coincidentally, Bass Pro Shops is, and has been, a longtime sponsor of Austin Dillon in both the Camping World Series Trucks, as well as the Nationwide Series!

SHR further indicated in the press release that it is highly unlikely that Stewart will return to the cockpit of his familiar SHR #14 Mobil1/Bass Pro Shops Chevy this year.  Additionally, SHR stated that it hopes to have all their plans in place, regarding Smoke’s replacement driver/drivers, by Wednesday of this week.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
