In the midst of fines and penalties that have been handed out in the Sprint Cup garage area, there is a bit of good news from the Joe Gibbs Racing #11 FedEx team!

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin has received medical clearance to return to on-track activity beginning with this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway in the #11 FedEx Express Toyota. Hamlin was injured during an accident at Auto Club Speedway and has missed the past four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races while recovering. Exact plans for this weekend will be determined by the team at Talladega.

Don’t expect to see Hamlin run the whole race at Talladega.  Very likely Hamlin will drop to the rear of the field prior to the green flag flying, pit early in the race to get out of the car, and let his relief driver, most likely Brian Vickers, jump in behind the wheel to finish the rest of the race.

By starting the race, Hamlin will be credited with the driver’s points that will be awarded at the finish of the race.

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
