On Friday Jimmie Johnson unloaded his race car from the hauler with a very slim 2 point lead over “Blazingly Bad” Keselowski.  However, when the crew loaded up that some race car after the AAA Texas 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway, Johnson increased his lead to seven (7) points.  [Hold on loosely, but don’t let go! Johnson collected maximum points, 48, in the race, as he led the most laps.  Additionally, he will head to Phoenix for the penultimate race in the season with a seven-point lead, and more importantly, some heap good mojo on his side!

Barring any unforeseen catastrophes on the parts of Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski at Phoenix, the Chase has wound down to a two-horse race.  “Mr. Five-Time” and “Blazingly Bad Brad” are, realistically, the only teams that have a shot at carting off the Sprint Cup championship trophy at Miami-Homestead in two weeks.

Next week both NASCAR and yours truly will roll into the Phoenix international Raceway for race #9 of the Chase.  I will be hanging out in my seat high above turn #1 in the Allison Tower for, what should be, a very exciting duel between “Mr Five-Time” and “Blazingly Bad Brad”!  Stay tuned for, what may be as exciting as last year’s closing two races of the season!

Twelve drivers, two races, one championship, who will be the last man standing?

TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
