A.J. Allmendinger is now unemployed!
You knew that this was going to happen when his “B” sample came back positive. Penske Racing announced Wednesday that they were releasing “The Dinger” following the meeting between the driver and Penske Racing. You just had to know that both Penske Racing, and their sponsors were not going to sit by idly ,and not distance themselves from Allmendinger’s indiscretion!
“Penske Racing fully supports NASCAR’s substance abuse policy and we are disappointed with AJ’s positive drug test results,” said Roger Penske. “AJ is a terrific driver, a good person and it is very unfortunate that we have to separate at this time. We have invested greatly in AJ and we were confident in his success with our team.
“The decision to dismiss him is consistent with how we would treat any other Penske Racing team member under similar circumstances. As AJ begins NASCAR’s ‘Road to Recovery’ program, we wish him the best and look forward to seeing him compete again in NASCAR.”
Penske Racing said that Sam Hornish, Jr. will be driving the Penske Racing #22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge for the foreseeable future in 2012. Additionally, both Penske Racing and their sponsors will evaluate prospective drivers to fill the seat in 2013.
It is going to very interesting to see the rush, that will undoubtedly occur, to fill that seat for 2013, now that the #22 Penske Dodge driver’s seat is now open for 2013!
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
