Once James Buescher made his last pass of the race, passing “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski for the lead and the win, the rest of the field was nothing more than my favorite Kansas song, “Dust in the Wind”! With this win, his second for the year, Turner Motorsports posted its second victory in the Camping World Truck Series. The first win came last week with Kasey Kahne, when NASCAR returned to Rockingham with the NCWTS.
Earlier in the season, Buescher took Turner Motorsports to Victory Lane with a win at the season opener at Daytona. In that race he entered turn four in 14th place, manipulated his car through a huge crash, and scampered on to take the checkered flag first!
Today, however, Buescher led five different times for a total of 103 out of the 167 lap race. He was the dominate iron horse in today’s race. When the final pits stops were finished, Buescher blended back into the field and methodically plodded his way through the cars that were in front of him, and with eleven laps to go, assumed the lead to win the SFP 250.
Buescher became the 12th different winner in the 12 Camping World Series Truck races held at Kansas.
Finishing behind Buescher was, Timothy Peters in second, “Blazingly Bad” Brad Keselowski in third, Nelson Piquet, Jr. fourth, and rounding out the top five was Todd Bodine.
Tomorrow, Sunday, we will be following “the yellow brick road” that will undoubtedly lead us to the Kansas Speedway for the STP 400!
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
