Last weekend in the Chicagoland Speedway garage, the rumors swirled that Clint Bowyer was moving to Michael Waltrip Racing for the 2012 season. Pressed about the issue during an appearance for the upcoming Good Sam Club 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, Bowyer seemed close to a decision.
“We are getting close to making an announcement,” he told News/Talk WSB. “I’ve had a lot of opportunities and a lot it hinges on funding.” Longtime Richard Childress Racing employee and former Director of Competition Scott Miller has left RCR and is highly rumored to have taken a job at MWR, Bowyer’s likely 2012 destination.
When asked whether Miller’s departure and destination were linked to his own, Bowyer grinned and said, “I wish him the best and, who knows, maybe I will be working with him someday.”
To further the speculation that Clint Bowyer is headed to Michael Waltrip Racing for the 2012, it was also noted that JTG/Daugherty Racing is ending their alliance with MWR at the end of 2011. JTG/Daugherty Racing has been housing its race team within the race shop facilities of Michael Waltrip Racing.
If you connect the dots, eliminating the JTG/Daugherty Racing alliance, and the courting of Clint Bowyer, is positive evidence that would lead one to believe that MWR is clearing the way to expand to three race teams, by adding Clint Bowyer to their stables!
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
