– Spencer Gallagher will climb behind the wheel of chassis No. 128 for this weekend’s race at Talladega. This is the second time that the No. 2 team has utilized this chassis, with it running at the season opener at Daytona with Cody Coughlin, who finished 17th after a flat tire in the closing laps.
– Earlier this year, Gallagher’s first NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) win came at Talladega Superspeedway after qualifying third. He has one other NXS start at the 2.66-mile tri-oval in 2017. Additionally, Gallagher finished second in his last NCWTS start at Talladega in 2016 and earned a third-place effort in 2014.
– In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, Gallagher will run a special pink paint scheme in honor of those who have fought or are continuing to fight against the disease. In addition, Gallagher’s No. 2 will carry special pink ribbons of those on the team within the GMS Racing family whose family members have been affected by breast cancer. The ribbons on Gallagher’s Chevy include Ruth Gallagher, team owner Maury Gallagher’s mother, Amy Carter, Spencer Gallagher’s cousin, as well as Dean Cox, Annette Flashner and Shirley Handy.
“I’m excited to get back truck racing, especially truck racing at one of my absolute favorite superspeedways. Talladega (Superspeedway) has always been pretty good to me. I’ve come close to winning there in a truck before, and I was able to get my first Xfinity Series win there earlier this season. Climbing behind the wheel of the No. 2 Allegiant Chevy Silverado, I’ll try to knock the dust off pretty quick. GMS Racing has a powerhouse lineup going to Talladega. It’ll be me, Timothy (Peters), Johnny (Sauter), Justin (Haley) and Stewart (Friesen) this weekend as teammates and I think we’ll have a real strong pack for everyone else to contend with all race long. Hopefully, we can put one of our trucks in victory lane at the end of the day.”
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
