N.O.W Matters More Foundation Partners With Korbin Forrister

Korbin Forrister
All Out Motorsports / Korbin Forrister will carry the N.O.W. Matters More Foundation for the remainder of the team’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.

The N.O.W. (Needs Over Wants) Matters More Foundation champions creative efforts and solutions for prevention, education, and treatment of substance abuse and the disease of addiction.

Currently, in America, the Opioid Overdose Crisis has become an epidemic.  According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse (www.drugabuse.gov), “Every day, more than 115 people in the United States die after overdosing on opioids. The misuse of and addiction to opioids —including prescription pain relievers, heroin, and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl — is a serious national crisis that affects public health as well as social and economic welfare. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the total ‘economic burden’ of prescription opioid misuse alone in the United States is $78.5 billion a year, including the costs of healthcare, lost productivity, addiction treatment, and criminal justice involvement.”

That is where N.O.W. Matters More comes in, to help individuals and families navigate the difficult business of recovery by vetting programs and helping them with options of those that best meet their treatment needs.  The foundation provides partial or full scholarships when necessary and available.

Former Major League Baseball player, Darryl Strawberry, N.O.W. Matters More Advisory Board member, will be present to support his friend Forrister at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Along with Strawberry, Founder, Luis Delgado will be there to share their stories of addiction and recovery.

Driver of the No. 7 Toyota Tundra, Korbin Forrister has been partnered with the Nowmattersmore.org for several years.  Forrister has become good friends with Strawberry and knows how much this organization can help families and people in need.

“The Opioid Overdose Crisis hits any nationality, color and creed and I’ve had friends that continue to struggle with this horrible addiction,” Forrister said.  “I’ve played in the N.O.W. (Matters More) golf tournaments for several years and have become good friends with Darryl. We got together a few months ago and decided to open the conversation with the NASCAR fans about this crisis and how to find help.  Together I believe we can get the word out and hopefully, assist individuals find the help they need.  All they have to do is call 1-833-NOW-MATTERS to take the first step.  We hope to have a solid run in the NC Education Lottery 200 race Friday night and get some exposure out to the fans that there is help out there.”

Forrister has one previous start on the 1.5-mile Concord, N.C. race track in 2015. The team plans additional 2018 starts at Texas Motor Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Eldora  Speedway, Michigan Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway and ISM Raceway.

The North Carolina Education Lottery 200 is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. with prerace coverage on FS1, MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Channel 90 at 7 p.m.
