Do you think that Kurt Busch will ever learn to control his caustic tongue?
For those of your who may have missed the most exciting Chase race since its inception, you also most likely missed a by-product of that race. Early on in the race, Kurt Busch experienced a transmission failure, and thereby returned to the garage area for repairs. ESPN’s pit reporter, Dr. Jerry Punch, went back into the garage area to interview “the silver tongued” Kurt Busch.
While waiting a couple of minutes for ESPN’s director to open up Dr. Punch’s mike, and throw the TV coverage down to Dr. Punch for the interview, Kurt unloaded on Dr. Punch. The venom that Kurt spewed was both offensive, vulgar, and directed towards Dr. Punch. Finally, after approximately two minutes of the venomous “Kurt-Spew”, Dr. Punch finally announced to his director, “never mind, never mind”. The interview never happened!
What is with both of the Busch brothers and their caustic, offensive, self-centered behavior? When will their owners decide that the “mouth-cancer” that both Busch brothers brings into the race teams is not worth the results on the race track? Do you think that Roger Penske is starting to tire from all the venom spewed on the race radios each and every race by their 2004 Sprint Cup champion? Do you think that Roger Penske is tiring of making public apologies for their “lead driver”?
Remember Kurt’s run-in with Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio that ultimately led to his dismissal from Roush-Fenway Racing?? Then, of course, there was the really disrespectful radio conversation between Kurt and Roger Penske. You remember that one don’t you? Penske had enough of the “Kurt Spew”, and told Busch to “just shut up and driver the car”. To which Kurt responded, and this is classic, “OK DUUUDE”.
I have a really hard time conjuring up the image of anyone, let alone an employee, calling Roger Penske, DUUDE! How many of us would call our employer DUUDE, and still have our jobs? I will venture a guess and say a termination would follow such a disrespectful reply!
Not to be out done is another Busch, his little brother, ol Kylie, who sets the bar extremely high in the gaffe department! How about his use of hand signals in the spring race at Texas? Was ol Kylie really telling the official that he was #1 in Kyle’s book? How immature and stupid can one driver be, knowing full well that he has an on-board camera that will capture those moments for the whole racing world to see! That whole world includes the NASCAR race officials that ultimately will decide to penalize you handsomely for the one finger salute! BRILLIANT!
Do we still remember just a couple of weeks ago with his foray into destruction derby promotion!! Joe Gibbs Racing is still reeling from the withdrawal of M&M’s from the final two races of the Sprint Cup season, as well as Z-Line Designs requiring JGR to replace ol Kylie in the Nationwide Series for the final two races of the season. Additionally,if you were a keen observer, you noticed that ol Kylie didn’t race his own KBM #18 truck in the final two races of the Camping World Series races, as well! Hmmmmm! Do you think that was sponsor driven?
If you wish to see just how profane and totally rude Kurt Busch is to ESPN’s Dr. Jerry Punch, watch this video, you must listen really carefully at the language that Kurt unleashes on Dr. Punch!
PS I apologizes for Kurt’s utterly disgusting vulgar vocabulary. But then this is typical Kurt Busch behavior at its best! DUUUDE!
Now that you have seen the video, again Penske Racing has to smooth over some more “Kurt Spew”, and thereby issuing a company written apology:
Penske Racing extends its apologies to Dr. Jerry Punch, our media partners and our sponsors and fans for Kurt Busch’s inappropriate actions in Homestead on Sunday. These actions do not represent Penske Racing and are inconsistent with the company’s standards for behavior, respect for others and professionalism. This matter is being reviewed internally with no further comment at this time.(Penske Racing)
The Penske Racing formal apology obviously coupled, no doubt, an insistence from Penske Racing for Kurt Busch to issue an apology, as well:
Kurt Busch Statement: “Unfortunately, our result in the season-ending race at Homestead on Sunday was not what we had hoped for as a team. In my frustration with the loss of my transmission early in the race, I let my emotions get the better of me. I regret having done this and apologize to the sponsors of Penske Racing , to NASCAR, its fans, to the media and in particular, Dr. Jerry Punch.”(Tom Roberts PR)
Message to Kurt: Don’t screw up this job like you did at Roush-Fenway Racing! There are only a few good teams left! I strongly suggest, Kurt, that you enroll yourself in some high potent chemotherapy. That is the only way to rid yourself of that horrible “mouth-cancer” that is plaguing you, and that you are spreading everywhere you go!
Do you think that Roger Penske might be re-evaluating the pros and cons of having Kurt Busch as his “lead driver”?
Do you think that Joe Gibbs may be second guessing himself about the risks vs. the rewards of having Kyle as his driver?
Again, I say that we know it is fall because all the leaves have fallen of the Busch’s!
TIL NEXT TIME, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY REDNECK!
